Ilias, Isvoleas, Liakos, Isvo. After twenty years, no recommendations are required for the many ‘faces’ of one of the top Greek rappers. Coming from Galatsi, Athens’ hip hop ‘birthplace’, he was there from the start as the voice of an entire generation. And because, as he also says, all genres are music and music knows no limits, he starts to combine hip hop with bouzouki and baglama and introduces rap-(re)betiko. On Tuesday, September 8, Liakos takes one step further in Technopolis. He notes: “The quarantine period was a driving force for me to attempt to bring rap closer to Greek and Mediterranean melodies. Together with the known group of people that have been accompanying me musically for years, we created an acoustic set with mandolin, violin, guitar, piano and percussions as the main instruments. And what came out was ‘rap a la Grek (rap Greek style)’! Certainly different from what you are used to hear from me until today. Familiar but at the same time different!”
